Melbourne Cup Day at Hyatt Hotel Canberra

My family run a small business that is open 7 days a week. Every year we use Melbourne Cup Day as an excuse to close up shop and spend the day with family and friends, eating good food and catching up. This year my family decided to go to the Hyatt Hotel Canberra‘s Melbourne Cup Garden Experience to celebrate. I was told that this was decided at some point soon after I attended the function last year. I came home with hundreds of photos of the rows upon rows of food, the glamorous setting and accommodating staff. The SOLD OUT…

Canberra Centre Masterclass with Donna Hay

Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to attend the opening of the new Lifestyle Precinct in the Monaro Mall, at the Canberra Centre. The new lifestyle and home wares precinct is full of beautiful new stores, my favourite being Haigh’s (a chocolate store – who would’ve guessed). There is also Bed Bath ‘n’ Table, stationery brand Pepe’s, Nespresso and The Tea Centre. To celebrate the opening of the new Lifestyle precinct, the Canberra Centre is hosting a number of masterclasses with renowned industry professionals. Last Thursday I attended the Seasoned to Perfection Masterclass with Donna Hay. I…

Washing Away the Weekend with Willow and Charlie

I’ve mentioned a number of times how sensitive my skin is. I get regular breakouts and have a total mix bag when it comes to what category my skin falls into. Due to my skin care dilemma, I take time on both a daily and weekly basis to take care of my skin and give it extra attention. Some weeks I’ll use a mud based face mask, or a sheet mask. I also use a separate scrub to exfoliate the dead skin cells of my face and deeply cleanse my pores to avoid future breakouts and draw out existing impurities.…

Tailored Talk with Naudic Australia

I had the pleasure of talking to Naudic designer and creator Emma Puttick last week. Her designs are so colourful and reflective of our Autralian lifestyle, there’s a few that I have my eye on…   Before you created your own label you were working as a scientist in London. Have you always been interested in fashion? And how did you come to create the label?   I’ve always been interested in fashion and dressing with personality. I love seeing people show their individuality through style and expressing themselves through colour, patterns and different shapes. I worked in London at…

What I Wore: Hyatt Hotel Canberra

I’ve had the privilege (and got so freaking excited that I danced around in my pi’s with my mum and my fat corgi kinda privilege) of being invited to a number of Hyatt Hotel Canberra events. This outfit featured shows a trench coat, that I, being the clever chicken that I am, wore as a dress. I had seen this trend for trench coats in magazines, but like many things in magazines I didn’t really think it would suit the love handles on my hips or my boobs are bigger than a size B cup. But, forever the optimist, I…

Tailored Talk with Charly Thorn

Charly Thorn is a fashion prodigy. She is 18 years old and has an incredibly bright future ahead of her. I had the privilege of viewing Charly’s collection last year at Fashfest, and I am not alone in saying that it was one of my favourites. Her models sashayed down the runway in metallic and rose gold, with edgy hairstyles and on trend sneakers. At the conclusion of her collection she received a standing ovation! This year I made sure to take the time to get an insight into the world of Charly Thorn and her collection for Fashfest 2017:  At 18…

TIME TO GLOW with Sukin Organics and Harlotte Cosmetics

Let’s get glowing!  This year Sukin Organics and Harlotte Cosmetics are official partners for Fashfest 2017. I’ve been lucky enough to be a makeup artist at this year’s event, and I was so excited that these companies were on board . I’ve always used Sukin Organics, I have sensitive skin that is prone to acne. My younger sister Alison also uses Sukin. Although her skin isn’t as prone to breakouts as mine, it is also quite sensitive. All of Sukin’s products are: 100% Vegan 100% Carbon Neutral Australian Owned and Made No Animal Testing I use their Charcoal based facial…

Tailored Talk with Naomi Peris Bridal

It was my pleasure to interview the inspiring Naomi Hogie, Designer and Owner of Naomi Peris Bridal. I had the pleasure of seeing Naomi’s collection on the Fashfest catwalk last year, and it was amazing. I could not wait to interview her after I found out she would be showing again this year: We’ve just heard amazing news that you’ll be showcasing your latest collection at Milan Fashion Week, just before FASHFEST. Tell us about it. I’m so excited… and never believed this would happen to a small Canberra girl… I couldn’t believe it when one of the organisers of Milan…

Tailored Talk with Olivia Mennie

I first discovered the gorgeous Olivia Mennie after she left a comment on one of my Instagram posts. Me being me, I continued to stalk her on Instagram  (we all know we do it!). I was so impressed, and honestly, a little intimidated by what I saw! Not only is she uniquely stunning, she is a model, full time uni student and an influencer. And while juggling all of this, and a recent bout of flu, she also managed to find the time to answer my questions…   How did you get into modelling? About two years ago now I was…

Good Taste Series Competition at Hyatt Hotel Canberra

If you happen to follow me on Instagram or Facebook you will know that I love my food. Emphasis on the LOVE. The first descriptor on my Instagram profile is ‘Bread Enthusiast’. Last Friday night I had the opportunity of a lifetime to see some of Australia’s finest chef’s compete in the ASPAC 2017 Good Taste Series Competition at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. It is the first time the competition has been held outside of Northern America, with the Hyatt Hotel Canberra being the first hotel in Australia to host the event. I was honoured and privileged to be a…
