The Beautique By Jessica Peris: Canberra’s Ultimate Beauty Destination

A couple of years ago now I had the pleasure of having Jessica Peris do my make up. I have always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with my face. Growing up, I always thought it was too round, and my cheeks were always a bit chubby. It didn’t help, and still doesn’t help that when I’m at work or mingling at a family function that people love to tell me how much I look like my Dad rather than my drop dead gorgeous hot tamale of a Mum. When Jessica did my makeup she made me love my…

Getting Social at Saloon

Last Thursday night I had the pleasure of being invited to an evening at Saloon; the business and brain child of beauty experts Jaki and Sarah. Both owners have a strong background in the beauty industry and can perform the simplest of beauty practices, or a full makeover. Saloon is located in Lonsdale Street, Braddon, and offers clients a range of  beauty services. It is a one stop shop for makeup, waxing, lash lifts, cosmetic tattooing, and holds the title of Canberra’s first blow dry bar. Yes ladies you heard correct. A bar, stocked with both wine and hair products…

In My Beauty Bag

They say you can tell a lot about a woman from the contents of her hand bag. Well, what about her beauty bag? The contents of my cosmetics case is constantly changing. I fall in and out of love with some products, while others I have remained faithful to for years. My current stash of beauty goodies contains some golden oldies and a few newbies;   MAYBELLINE NEW YORK INSTANT AGE REWIND CONCEALER   This product gets rid of my dark circles in an instant. I simply apply it to my under eye area and blend it in with my…

The Best Dry Shampoo

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that dry shampoo is one of my favourite products. This is because of the following reasons: 1. It allows me to sleep in, and still have an okay head of hair. 2. It allows me to go to bed early and still have an okay head of hair the next day. 3. It lets me be lazy 5 out of the 7 days of the week. Washing your hair and then taking the effort to dry it can be a hard task at the end of a long working day. Dry…

Washing Away the Weekend with Willow and Charlie

I’ve mentioned a number of times how sensitive my skin is. I get regular breakouts and have a total mix bag when it comes to what category my skin falls into. Due to my skin care dilemma, I take time on both a daily and weekly basis to take care of my skin and give it extra attention. Some weeks I’ll use a mud based face mask, or a sheet mask. I also use a separate scrub to exfoliate the dead skin cells of my face and deeply cleanse my pores to avoid future breakouts and draw out existing impurities.…

TIME TO GLOW with Sukin Organics and Harlotte Cosmetics

Let’s get glowing!  This year Sukin Organics and Harlotte Cosmetics are official partners for Fashfest 2017. I’ve been lucky enough to be a makeup artist at this year’s event, and I was so excited that these companies were on board . I’ve always used Sukin Organics, I have sensitive skin that is prone to acne. My younger sister Alison also uses Sukin. Although her skin isn’t as prone to breakouts as mine, it is also quite sensitive. All of Sukin’s products are: 100% Vegan 100% Carbon Neutral Australian Owned and Made No Animal Testing I use their Charcoal based facial…

An Afternoon at Prime 7: Behind the Scenes with Diana Cheetham

Television. That autonomous technology that allows us to communicate, daydream with our eyes open, entertain and inform. The time waster behind those unfinished assignments, dog eaten homework and weary eyes at work. How often do we all sit down in front of the screen and actually consider how it all comes to form? I had no clue. I had spent very little time considering all the effort behind the scenes until last Thursday afternoon when I was invited by Fashfest Makeup Director Diana Cheetham to gain an exclusive look behind the scenes at Prime 7 Canberra. I guess you could…

Beauty Looks @ 2017 Grammy’s with Fashfest Makeup Director Diana Cheetham

Last Sunday night was the ever explosive, always interesting event that is The Grammy’s. I love the music and the performances but my favourite part has always been the Red Carpet. I love the glitz and the glamour. I love the fashion fails and the golden gown moments, and this year was no exception. And as always the world’s fashion and media elite were quick to voice their thoughts. Make Up Director for Fashfest Diana Cheetham focused on the ‘winning’ Beauty Looks of the biggest stars:    LADY GAGA “How inspirational to see a little creativity on the face but still…

My Month of Masks

If any of you have been following me on Facebook and Instagram you will have discovered my latest love for Korean Beauty Products thanks to Australian company Style Story. My most recent beauty trial has been a full month of Sheet masks. Those white ghost like masks that we see the likes of Emma Stone and Blake Lively using on Instagram to maintain their flawless complexions. For a month I have used a range of different masks, each promising a different result for my skin. I’ve used a snail mask, a green tea mask, a deep sea mask, an aloe…

Korean Beauty products have been taking the cosmetic world by storm. Why?
